The Barranco Clinic has proudly provided patients across Central Florida with quality ear, nose, and throat care for over 50 years. Our providers operate from five locations across the area. We have curated a dedicated team of board-certified providers who have made it their priority to help patients find lasting relief at each location.
A Lasting Member of the Community
The Barranco Clinic’s Founder, Salvadore J. “Sam” Barranco, M.D., was a dedicated physician who exhibited great compassion for his family, patients, employees, and community.
Dr. Barranco was born in Lake Wales, Florida, on March 6, 1938. He received his Bachelor of Science at the University of Alabama and his Doctor of Medicine at Tulane University where he also completed his residency. From 1963-1964 he served in the U.S. Navy as a general medical officer. He started his Otolaryngology practice In Winter Haven in 1970 as the only board-certified Otolaryngologist in the community.
In 1978, the office was moved to a much larger location at 160 E. Lake Howard Dr., where the main Barranco Clinic office remains today. Dr. Barranco chose this beautiful location on Lake Howard for this office and was instrumental in preserving the historic 100-year-old camphor tree located at the entrance.
For the next thirty years, Dr. Barranco brought accomplished, board-certified ear, nose, and throat physicians into the practice. The practice name changed with each new doctor before being changed to The Barranco Clinic shortly before Dr. Barranco’s death in 1999. By 1985 his visions led to the expansion of the practice from just Winter Haven to other central Florida locations with offices in Sebring, Lake Wales, Haines City, and Bartow.
