ENT Specialists’s board-certified otolaryngologists provide extensive, patient-centered care for the full range of conditions related to the ear.
Mastoid Surgery
The mastoid is part of the skull that’s located just behind your ear. Mastoid surgery involves removing cells from the mastoid bone. This procedure is usually needed to treat cholesteatoma or ear infections that have spread.
Ear Tubes
Ear tubes are commonly recommended for children who have repeated ear infections (chronic otitis media). They may also help if your child has an accumulation of fluid in the ear after an infection (otitis media with effusion). In both cases, we’ll place the ear tubes in the eardrums during surgery. The tubes allow air to travel into the middle ear, preventing fluid from building up behind the eardrums.
Myringotomy with Tubes
Myringotomy is a surgery that can provide relief for children suffering from frequent middle ear infections. During this procedure, we will make an incision in your child’s eardrum so that fluid trapped in the middle ear can drain. During this surgery, we will often place ear tubes as well to keep the eardrum open and provide an unobstructed pathway for fluid to drain.
