Our experienced ENT specialists at Florida ENT Associates can provide personalized solutions for sinusitis and other nasal ailments after painstakingly diagnosing your concerns. Balloon sinuplasty can be an excellent option in cases where patients are not responding to medication.

How Balloon Sinuplasty is Performed

Balloon sinuplasty does not require any incisions, so there is no scarring. However, the procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia to ensure your utmost comfort and relaxation. Once you are unconscious, your ENT provider will insert a small balloon through the nostrils that will be inflated to increase the amount of room in the nasal passageways so you can breathe better. Once the airway is sufficiently enlarged, the balloon is deflated and extracted from the nose.

Balloon sinuplasty is an effective measure for improving your breathing and putting an end to chronic discomfort and headaches. If your condition has not responded to medications, you may be an ideal candidate for the procedure. Since no incisions are used during the treatment, your recovery is minimal, and there is little risk of complications.

Procedure Candidacy

Patients who are tired of experiencing chronic sinus pain, infections, and breathing problems and who have not found relief with medicines for their condition are excellent candidates for balloon sinuplasty.

We will conduct an in-depth evaluation of your symptoms, a thorough review of your medical history, and a physical exam to determine your candidacy. If for some reason balloon sinuplasty is not the right option for you, we will find an equally effective alternative solution to help combat your concerns.

What to Expect from the Procedure

An ENT physician will use balloon sinuplasty devices to open the blockage, preventing sinus drainage using the following steps.

After we determine that you are a good candidate for balloon sinuplasty through careful testing and a review of your medical history, we will schedule your procedure on the books. You will receive general anesthesia so that your balloon sinuplasty is completely pain-free.

Once the treatment is finished, you will be able to return to your normal activities within 1-2 days. Fatigue, grogginess, congestion, and bleeding are all normal after balloon sinuplasty. These side effects seldom last longer than a few days.
