Dizziness is a sensation felt in the head. It can feel like the patient is unbalanced, lightheaded, or woozy. Some people have even fainted due to severe dizziness.
Commonly, dizziness is a symptom of an underlying health condition, so it should be taken seriously. Our practitioners at Florida ENT Associates will evaluate you for the root causes of your dizzy spells and find a solution that is ideal for you.
Dizziness Treatment Options
The first step in treating your dizziness is to perform diagnostic testing. We may administer a balance test, a neurological evaluation, a CT scan, and others.
Treatment options for dizziness may include the following:
Medications
Balance exercises
Diet modifications
Increased fluids
Ear surgery
What Is Dizziness?
Most people have experienced dizziness at some point in their lives, whether from getting up too quickly, being dehydrated, getting pregnant, or overdoing it at the club. Dizziness, in fact, is one of the primary reasons why adults visit their physicians. Dizziness can be attributed to other more serious conditions, such as vertigo, anxiety, ear infections, Meniere’s disease, and more. For some, dizziness goes away on its own, while in others, the underlying cause will have to be addressed in order to reduce symptoms.
In certain cases, dizziness stems from inner ear concerns. After all, the inner ear controls our sense of balance. If the inner ear doesn’t send the brain the same signals as it’s receiving from the eyes and the nervous system, then the brain will fail to make sense of its input, and the result will be disorientation, dizziness, and wooziness.

Dizziness FAQs
Do older folks get dizzy more often?
Age can play a role in dizziness insofar as older patients often take more medications that can cause the condition. Age by itself, however, will not cause a person to feel dizzy.
When should I see a doctor?
Occasional dizziness happens to everyone and is no cause for alarm. If the condition becomes more chronic, or you experience a more severe episode after which you faint, it would be prudent to see a physician as soon as you can. Episodes of dizziness can result in a serious fall due to loss of balance, for instance.
